Job and His Children

The painting being developed here is dedicated to Romeo Dallaire, and those U.N. peacekeeping troops who  - depite their failings - have shown far more courage, justice, and common cause with humanity than the political masters we have chosen to put over them. The colours in the background are modified and darkened from the Rwandan flag (at the time Gen. Dallaire was in charge of the peacekeeping forces there.) - green, yellow, and red. The central background figures represent the political leadership of both the United Nations, and the major Western powers, who turned their backs on General Dallaire and his pleas to be allowed to carry out his duties ats a soldier, and end the insanity of the Rwandan genocide.

Current State
There are still a large number of detailing issues to resolve - including the face, and the definition of the central figure, the uniform; but  most of the picture is there, so to speak.

State 4

At this point the basic theme and sense of the painting is beginning to work it's way to the foreground. The structural format of the background is worked out - dark green at the top (currently mars black), a yellowish central field, and red for the lower third.
The next immediate goal is to define the background figures that represent the society that turned away from Job, during his trials.

State 3

The basic positioning of the figures is worked out, there are still lots of problems with relative size and perspective. The main figure's face is beginning to take on some form, and some complicating elements have been removed.

State 2
There are some real positioning problems here - for example, the main figure's left knee; the size of the background figures, etc.
State 1
This is the first draft. (well, not really, the first first draft, the main figure was only half as big .)
